Acme and Safeway

The Community FoodBank of New Jersey applauds The Albertsons Companies, corporate parent of Acme and Safeway in New Jersey. These grocery retailers donated more than 1 million pounds of food to CFBNJ during 2015, through the Retail Gleaning Program and food drives.

Through The Albertsons Companies Foundation, they financially support one of the FoodBank’s important child-feeding initiatives, the Family Pack Program, which provides food for hungry children and their households on weekends, when school breakfasts and lunches are not available.

Albertsons provides its grant support through a campaign called Hunger Is, a joint charitable program with the Entertainment Industry Foundation. Hunger Is fights child hunger in the United States, and supports efforts to improve health-related outcomes for hungry children and their families. This mission is closely aligned with high priorities for CFBNJ, which are: to help raise awareness about the link between hunger and health, and to help connect those we serve with health screenings and other health-related services.

We thank Hunger Is for partnering with us on these important initiatives, which are part of our commitment to providing FOOD, HELP and HOPE to our most vulnerable neighbors.
