Community Partner Spotlight: ShopRite

In a long list of ways, ShopRite and its parent company, Wakefern Food Corp., are major partners in the fight against hunger and poverty in New Jersey. In addition to providing a generous annual grant for our programs through its LPGA Classic each spring, ShopRite stores contribute Partners in Caring funds to the FoodBank and its member hunger-fighting charities. Together Wakefern and individual ShopRite stores contribute more than 3 million pounds of groceries annually for distribution by the FoodBank.

ShopRite stores participate in our annual Check-Out Hunger campaign each fall season, employees from Wakefern (www.wakefern.com) and individual ShopRite stores (www.shoprite.com) volunteer at the FoodBank, and Wakefern Vice President Karen Meleta is a longtime, valued member of the FoodBank’s Board of Directors.

ShopRite is supporting our “Lifetime of Help, Legacy of Hope” gala this week, honoring FoodBank founder and CEO Kathleen DiChiara on the occasion of her retirement. Thank you to ShopRite and its parent company for all the ways they help the Community FoodBank of New Jersey provide food, help and hope to those in need.
