This Thanksgiving season, we thank those who are helping the Community FoodBank of New Jersey meet the need for traditional holiday meals among those we serve.
The FoodBank expects to distribute holiday meals to more than 30,000 households this holiday season, including through our member food pantries, soup kitchens and homeless shelters. We are grateful to ShopRite, Stop & Shop and Kings supermarket companies for collectively donating more than 4,000 turkeys to the FoodBank, as well as to the Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey and Company Store/Company Kids, which provided generous grants for the purchase of turkeys this season.
In addition, the FoodBank expects to collect more than 2,500 turkeys — donated by individual households and civic groups — during our Turkey Drive on Nov. 21 and Nov. 22 at several locations in the communities we serve.
We thank all our turkey donors who support our efforts to make sure that all our neighbors in need will have a warm, nourishing meal on Thanksgiving. We have long felt that the holiday meals, perhaps more than any others, symbolize an extra serving of help and hope — in addition to food.
