David Goldstein, Former CFBNJ Vice President of Operations

David Goldstein, Former CFBNJ Vice President of Operations 1280 550 CFBNJ

David Goldstein’s career spans over 46 years and has taken him from corporate roles at UPS to leadership positions in food banks across multiple states, including his work at CFBNJ. From when he joined CFBNJ in November 2018 until he left in early 2025, David’s vast experience helped elevate the organization’s operations. David’s passion for supply chain logistics is evident.

“I love supply chain logistics. I love the day-to-day. I love the challenges it brings,” he shared. David thrives on the energy and complexity of his role, and each day, he faces new challenges that fuel his enthusiasm for work.

But what truly drives David is leadership. Throughout his career, he’s focused on developing the next generation of leaders, and this was especially true at CFBNJ. He’s deeply proud of the team he built and the many staff members he’s mentored.

“I’m proud of being able to just have people absorb what’s in my head for the 46 years of experience I have. I want to be able to give them whatever I have,” David explained.

His focus on learning and development led to numerous promotions within CFBNJ, helping staff members grow into higher level roles. David’s leadership style encourages curiosity and growth. He urged his team to ask questions and absorb as much knowledge as possible.

“Ask me more and more questions because while it’s exciting for them to learn, it’s even more exciting for me to give,” he said.

The impact of David’s work goes beyond the logistics of food distribution, too — it’s personal. He reflects on his role in helping those who are struggling. Even on tough days, when the commute was long or the challenges were numerous, he found motivation in knowing that his efforts make a tangible difference.

From his prior work at Fulfill and Food Bank for New York City, David also has cherished memories of CFBNJ founder Kathleen DiChiara, who helped inspire his love of hunger relief work: “Kathleen DiChiara was one of those people who truly saw a need and stepped up to make a difference. Her vision and dedication to this cause have had an incredible impact on so many people’s lives.”

Looking to the future, David’s hopes for CFBNJ are ambitious yet grounded. “I honestly hope that the food banks won’t be needed here anymore, that we’ve solved the food insecurity issue,” he said.

While he acknowledges that solving food insecurity may take time, he remains hopeful that CFBNJ will continue to evolve and serve the community at the highest standard.

“If we remain adaptable, resilient, and motivated, we will continue to serve the community as we are now,” David said.
