Our Programs

The Community FoodBank of New Jersey provides food for people in need while striving to end hunger in our state. We do this by working with a large network of more than 800 community partners, including food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters, to bring food to our food insecure neighbors.

While food distribution is central to our mission, we also lead a number of important programs aimed at addressing the root causes of hunger for people of all ages and backgrounds.

Food for Youth and College Students

CFBNJ’s Child Nutrition and College Pantry Programs ensure that kids and young adults at risk of hunger have access to nutritious meals all year long. Our programs include after-school meals at Kids Cafes, Family Packs for the weekend, the Summer Food Service Program, and the College Food  Pantry Program.

Food for Older Adults

Older adults are especially susceptible to hunger and its health implications. We distribute boxes packed with nutritious food to thousands of seniors every month to help them eat well.

Community Health & Nutrition

In our efforts to address hunger as a health issue, we continue to expand our innovative programs. Our Nutrition Policy, Growing Healthy Pantry Toolkit, Food is Medicine initiatives, and Health Care Partnerships ensure that we tailor our food offerings to meet our neighbors' health needs and cultural preferences.

Grocery
Food Rescue

In America, about 108 billion pounds of food is wasted each year. We rescue millions of pounds of perfectly good, nutritious food through our supermarket gleaning program and work with state lawmakers to find long-term solutions to food waste in New Jersey.

Nutrition Education

Through NJ SNAP Ed, CFBNJ provides free nutrition education workshops that help neighbors choose healthy food on a budget and make physical activity part of their lives.

Job Training

CFBNJ's no-cost, "on the job" training programs are in place to provide students with interpersonal and professional skills that will help them earn a livable wage.

Food Benefits Assistance for Neighbors in Need

Multi-lingual Community Connections team members at the Community FoodBank of New Jersey are dedicated to ensuring that New Jersey residents get the food assistance they need to thrive. Our Community Connections team offers free in-person or virtual SNAP, WIC, School Meals/Summer EBT, and TANF/GA application assistance throughout the communities we serve.

Diapers & Hygiene Programs

At CFBNJ, we believe proper hygiene is crucial for maintaining good health and preventing the spread of disease. That's why we're proud to offer a range of hygiene programs in NJ that are designed specifically for schools and communities.
