What is a food bank?
Our food bank is a storage and distribution system, marshaling resources for over 800 soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, and feeding programs in New Jersey. In addition to distributing food sourced from our generous donors, we also administer supplemental food packaged and supplied by the State and Federal governments. What is CFBNJ’s mission?
We serve as a champion for addressing root causes of hunger, delivering neighbor-centered solutions and fostering collaborative partnerships across all sectors of society for NJ. Working together with volunteers, donors, and our many partners, we work to provide Food, Help and Hope.
What does CFBNJ stand for?
CFBNJ is short for Community FoodBank of New Jersey.
What other programs do you have at CFBNJ?
CFBNJ is more than just a food bank. We are also the largest anti-poverty organization in New Jersey, with a variety of programs addressing the various causes of hunger to augment our work to end hunger. Our Resource Access team assists our neighbors with SNAP benefits (formerly food stamps) and LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program) information, while NJ SNAP-Ed provides nutrition and physical education and well-being for our neighbors. Our Diaper Program and Period Initiative provide additional services that help our community partners assist their neighbors, and our job training programs provide crucial job training for culinary and office jobs.

Public Transit: Please go to NJTransit.com to find out the best way to get to CFBNJ from your location. The #59, #65 and #66 NJ Transit bus routes all have stops near our Hillside warehouse.
Is CFBNJ a food pantry?
Our Hillside location is not a food pantry, but can use our Find Help page to locate nearby food pantries and soup kitchens. However, our Egg Harbor Township location does have food pantry hours, and they are as follows:
- Sundays & Mondays: Closed
- Tuesdays – Fridays: 1 – 4 PM
- Saturdays: 9 AM – 1 PM

How can a food pantry or soup kitchen become a CFBNJ food pantry?
If you would like your 501(c)(3) organization to become a CFBNJ network partner, your food pantry, soup kitchen or shelter must meet specific eligibility criteria. Learn more about becoming a network partner, then call us at (908) 355-3663 and ask for Network Relations.

Am I eligible for SNAP (formerly food stamps)?
We can pre-screen you for SNAP benefits (formerly food stamps) in NJ. Call CFBNJ’s Resource Access Team now at (908) 838-4831 to talk to an expert who can help you with this process and answer questions about your EBT card.
How do I apply for SNAP (formerly food stamps)?
You can apply for SNAP online through the New Jersey website. You can also call us for assistance at (908) 838-4831 or read our walkthrough of how to apply for SNAP in New Jersey.
Do you have a job training program?
CFBNJ currently has two job training programs – one for warehouse work and one for culinary training. Both programs offer critical certifications for careers in these fields, a transit stipend, and more.

How do I give a monetary gift?
You can make an online donation or donate through the mail.
Where can I mail a check?

How do I get my gift matched by my company?
Some employers offer to match your gift to CFBNJ. We encourage you to use our website to see if your company matches donations.
How do I make a planned gift?
Planned giving is a meaningful way for someone to leave a legacy of their beliefs and support a cause. Philanthropic giving can provide a lifelong income or provide for charity and other heirs in ways that maximize the impact and minimize costs and taxes. Find out more about planned giving.
How do I donate from a donor advised fund?
A donor advised fund, which is a charitable savings account, gives you the flexibility to recommend how much and how often money is granted to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey. Is my donation tax deductible?
The Community FoodBank of New Jersey is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization and your donation is tax-deductible within the guidelines of U.S. law. To claim a donation as a deduction on your U.S. taxes, please keep your donation receipt as your official record.
What is CFBNJ’s tax ID number?
CFBNJ’s tax ID number is 222 423 882. The Community FoodBank of New Jersey is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) public charity.
Is my online donation secure?
Yes, we use industry-standard SSL technology to keep your information secure. We partner with Stripe, the industry’s established payment provider trusted by some of the world’s largest companies. Your sensitive financial information never touches our servers. We send all data directly to Stripe’s PCI-compliant servers through SSL.
When can I expect a tax receipt for my donation to CFBNJ?
If you donate to CFBNJ online, you will receive an acknowledgement email right away. That email can be used for tax purposes. If you donate by mail, you will receive a letter within 10 days. If you need a consolidated tax receipt for multiple donations, please call our Donor Services team at (908) 355-3663.

How do I give monthly?
To become a monthly donor, click the Donate button to the right, and then click the ❤Monthly tab
I am a monthly donor. How do I change my credit card info or adjust the payment?
If you need to change your credit card information or want to adjust your payment, please call our Donor Services team at (908) 355-3663. If your donation is processed online, you can visit your Donor Portal for further instructions.
Can I donate in someone’s honor/in memory of a loved one?
This is a thoughtful and impactful gift that is growing in popularity. Donate to CFBNJ in honor of a loved one now by clicking “give in honor or memory” underneath the form.
How can I be removed from your mailing list?
If you don’t want to receive mail from CFBNJ anymore, call us at (908) 355-3663 and we will take you off our mailing list. Please note that because of long lead times with our mailings, it can take up to two months to be removed from our list.
How do I unsubscribe from your emails?
To unsubscribe from our emails, please go to the bottom of the last email you received and click “Manage Preferences.” You can also call our Donor Services team at (908) 355-3663.

Can I schedule a food donation pick-up from CFBNJ?
We can pick up food donations of 1,000 pounds or more. Please notify us at least two weeks in advance. Contact our Hillside team if you are nearest that location, or our Egg Harbor Township team if you are in that area. If you require pickup for a food donation of under 1,000 pounds, please reach out to your local food pantry or soup kitchen or call our Food Sourcing department at (908) 355-3663 so we can provide a list of places that will pick up your donation.
Where should I send/deliver the funds raised for CFBNJ?
All cash and check donations need to be sent/delivered to CFBNJ. Make all checks out to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey. Write down the event name on the memo line if applicable.

Volunteers
How do I sign up to volunteer?
You can sign up for a volunteer shift for our Hillside or Egg Harbor Township locations online. Please check out our volunteer page for more information about age requirements, things you‘ll be working on, and forms you’ll need to bring with you.
What will I be doing?
Volunteer shifts at CFBNJ can be anything from assembling our emergency food boxes, packing bulk items into family-sized bags, and sorting and repacking food items. We also offer data entry and office work volunteer shifts.
Can I volunteer with a group?
We welcome groups and offer that option when you sign up to volunteer on our website. There are a few things that group leaders need to keep in mind: please be sure to distribute warehouse guidelines to everyone in the group, and that volunteer groups with teens age 14 through 16 must be accompanied by one adult for every 10 teens. Adults must stay with their groups in their assigned work areas. The CFBNJ staff cannot act as chaperones or supervisors.
Can kids volunteer?
Our Hillside location has a minimum age of 14 years old, with adult supervision. Teens aged 16-17 may volunteer without adult supervision, if they have written permission from their parents on file. Our Egg Harbor Township location cannot accommodate volunteers under 18 at this time.

We are always in need of the following items. Please do not donate any perishable food, or items in glass packaging.
