Introducing The Community FoodBank of New Jersey’s Nutrition Policy
We’re excited to share an important update with our community! As a part of our 2024-2027 strategic plan, we’ve launched a new Nutrition Policy that will guide our approach to sourcing and distributing food. This nutrition policy is designed to clearly communicate our commitment to providing healthier food options and to guide our decisions in sourcing and distributing food.
At the core of our Nutrition Policy are three fundamental pillars:
Nutritional Value:
Our priority is to offer food that enhances the overall health and well-being of our community. We are dedicated to providing nutritious choices that contribute to a balanced diet.
Health Considerations:
We recognize the diverse health needs and dietary requirements of the neighbors we serve. Our policy ensures that we provide food options to meet these specific needs, including choices that are lower in sodium, saturated fats, and added sugars.
Cultural Food Preferences:
Understanding and honoring the cultural backgrounds and food preferences of our neighbors is essential. This approach will shape our inventory to align with the diverse needs of our community.
By following these guidelines, we are committed to providing nourishing, accessible, and respectful food options.
We invite our partners, supporters, and community members to visit the new section of our website to learn more about this policy.
