COMMUNITY FOODBANK OF NEW JERSEY FUNDRAISES FOR NEW WAREHOUSE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
State’s largest anti-hunger, anti-poverty organization seeks to invest in increased efficiency
HILLSIDE, NJ—August 1, 2023
The Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ) is asking for public support as it fundraises for a new cloud-based warehouse management system. The system, which is engineered specifically for food banks, will cost $444,000 and will greatly improve the organization’s efficiency.
CFBNJ’s current system allows for the management of products but not much else. The new software will integrate with the organization’s existing tools to deliver improvements in several key operational areas, including accounting, transportation, order processing, warehouse inventory control, and distribution. Automated truck schedules will allow the organization’s team to plan weeks instead of days ahead, and better technology will help CFBNJ to consistently fill partner pantries’ orders correctly and on time.
The system will lower overall operational costs, freeing up dollars that can be used to purchase and distribute more food to more people in need.
This investment is a critical component of CFBNJ’s new strategic plan, which aims towards a vision to reduce food insecurity by 50% in the organization’s service area by 2030.
“We won’t be able to end hunger in New Jersey without improving our current systems,” said Elizabeth McCarthy, President & CEO of the Community FoodBank of New Jersey. “We need to become faster, more efficient, and better informed so we can add more front-line community partners and reach more people. I hope the public will step up to help us raise the necessary funds for this tool that’s so critical to our work.”
