The Casino Association of New Jersey (CANJ) is an important partner in CFBNJ’s work to help our neighbors access the food that best meets their needs — including traditional holiday favorites. In November, they provided 1,200 turkeys to help families in need enjoy Thanksgiving meals.
The donation was part of the Casinos United Against Hunger campaign, a year-long effort to support CFBNJ’s mission in honor of our 50th anniversary. All nine Atlantic City Casinos are part of the campaign: Bally’s Atlantic City Casino Resort, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, Caesars Entertainment’s Atlantic City Resorts, Golden Nugget Atlantic City, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City, Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City, Ocean Casino Resort, Resorts Casino Hotel, and Tropicana Atlantic City. Many of these properties have been longtime CFBNJ supporters individually, but by banding together, their impact is magnified.
CANJ has given nearly $250,000 – enough for 750,000 nutritious meals. Part of the donation was presented at last year’s Night of 300,000 Meals, where chefs from several of the casinos provided food and their culinary talents to make the event a success.
“We’re so grateful to the Casino Association of New Jersey for uniting the Atlantic City casino community to help address food insecurity,” said Elizabeth McCarthy, President & CEO of the Community FoodBank of New Jersey. “From generously donating funds to providing holiday turkeys and volunteering, they’ve made a real difference at a time when it’s needed most.”
Executives and employees from each of the casinos also volunteered at CFBNJ’s mobile pantry in Ventnor City last year, helping to set up the pantry and distribute a diverse range of nutritious foods to neighbors in need.
“Food insecurity impacts families across New Jersey, and the Casino Association of New Jersey is proud to partner with the Community FoodBank of New Jersey to do our part to help by donating our time and resources,” said Mark Giannantonio, President of the Casino Association of New Jersey.
