CFBNJ is grateful to have United Airlines as a dedicated corporate partner – a global airline making a local impact. Since 2013, United has made a variety of contributions, from financial donations to hands-on volunteering and more. They’ve funded key programs, like Workforce Development and CFBNJ’s Recovery Challenge initiative, helping us to adapt in times of crisis and expand long-term solutions to food insecurity. Additionally, United’s general operating support has been crucial in strengthening our ability to reach more people in need.
Beyond funding, United has shown a deep commitment to our work through volunteerism. In the past five years, 240 United employees volunteered for more than 580 hours of service.
“United Airlines doesn’t just lend support – they roll up their sleeves and stand with us in the effort to end food insecurity,” said Elizabeth McCarthy, President & CEO of the Community FoodBank of New Jersey. “From volunteering to making deliveries during emergencies, their partnership is rooted in action and empathy.”
Another unique way United helps CFBNJ is through generous donations of airline miles, which offsets the cost of travel for our team to attend important events and conferences. These miles allow us to remain connected to a network of hunger relief organizations, enhancing our ability to advocate and share resources effectively.
Additionally, United has been instrumental in disaster relief efforts, assisting with the transportation of essential supplies, like water, to areas affected by crises. Their contributions of meals, snacks, and hygiene kits have provided immediate support to neighbors in need.
“United Airlines is proud to be a supporter of the Community FoodBank of New Jersey. Our EWR employees show up multiple times a year to volunteer and support CFBNJ, including at food packing events,” said Jon Gooda, the Vice President of Operations for Newark Liberty International Airport. “The FoodBank is doing amazing work across the state to fight food insecurity, as well changing lives through their many support programs.”
