50 for 50 Local Heroes League
The Community FoodBank of New Jersey is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2025. In honor of this incredible milestone, we are looking for 50 Jersey-based organizations, associations, or small businesses to come together and raise a total of $50,000!
With more than a billion meals distributed in five decades, CFBNJ has an extraordinary history of community impact. Our 50th anniversary this year marks a monumental milestone – a time to reflect with pride on our journey that began in 1975 when our late founder, Kathleen DiChiara, started distributing food from her station wagon in Newark. Since then, CFBNJ has evolved into New Jersey’s largest anti-hunger and anti-poverty organization, creating lasting change by providing food, nutrition education, career development and pathways to a food secure future. By providing food, help, and hope, we are nurturing all New Jerseyans.
But unfortunately, hunger is on the rise in New Jersey. Nearly 1 million people in our state are affected by food insecurity and more than 260,000 of those are children. With rampant inflation and changes to funding at the federal level, community support is needed now more than ever. Which is why we are looking for local heroes to step-up and ensure everyone in our neighborhoods has enough. For every $1 dollar raised CFBNJ can provide 3 nutritious meals for those in need.
We encourage various types of giving such as customer donations as a percentage of sales, corporate matching, employee giving based on their interests, or other creative ideas. Engaging with the local community to raise awareness and funds is the best way to help support our mission of ending food insecurity in New Jersey.
Groups that raise $1,000 or more will receive:
- Special recognition on our website
- Access to a volunteer day for up to 20 people at CFBNJ’s warehouse in Hillside
