Why Bring Food Benefits Assistance Navigators Navigators to Your Community?
- SNAP is the first line of defense against hunger. It’s the largest federal food program funded by the United States Department of Agriculture and has been proven to play a vital role in tackling food insecurity and promoting healthier eating habits.
- The WIC program aims to safeguard the health of low-income women, infants, and children up to age 5 who are at nutrition risk by providing nutritious foods to supplement diets, information on healthy eating, and referrals to health care. Poor nutrition, poverty, and food insecurity have detrimental impacts on infant, child, and maternal health and well-being in the short and long terms. One critical strategy to address these issues is connecting vulnerable families to the life-saving benefits of WIC.
- The National School Breakfast and Lunch Programs provide nutritionally balanced, free breakfast and lunch to eligible children each school day.
- Summer-EBT puts money on a debit card for summer groceries for eligible households with children when school is not in session. Children who receive free school meals will automatically receive Summer EBT. School Meals and Summer EBT are now ONE APPLICATION IN NEW JERSEY.
- SNAP, WIC and Summer EBT support families’ and kids by providing monthly grocery dollars to eligible households to purchase food from stores and move towards self-sufficiency.
- SNAP, WIC, School Meals, and Summer EBT provide money for food, but also free up families’ money for other basic needs such as rent, utilities, or medical care.
- SNAP helps families bridge temporary periods of unemployment or a family crisis. If a parent loses a job or has a low-paying one, SNAP benefits can help them feed their children until they can improve their situation. After unemployment insurance, SNAP is the most responsive federal program that provides additional support during and after economic downturns.

Services We Offer
Federal Nutrition Benefits Education: We create awareness, and provide information sessions on benefits, eligibility criteria, and application information to the community. These information sessions can be online or in person. The goal is to teach people who need help what SNAP, WIC, School Meals, and Summer EBT are and how to apply for these federal nutrition benefits. This helps folx know what to do when they work with a Navigator to apply for food benefits.
Federal Nutrition Benefits Outreach: We offer in-person and virtual benefit screening and application help to eligible households in your community.
Connection & Support: We connect households with other benefits and provide ongoing case management for all services.
Training: We train your team in the federal nutrition programs, eligibility requirements, local food security issues, and more!

Our Navigators even have longer training sessions for partners. These sessions teach our partners’ staff how to use the online SNAP application and who can apply for SNAP. The goal is to teach staff so they can help others fill out the SNAP application.
