Food for Older Adults
Seniors with limited economic resources are often forced to make tough choices between essentials like medicine and food.
Â
Our Food for Older Adults programs are Senior Boxes and Community Distributions. Your organization could make a difference in the everyday lives of seniors.
Free Senior Boxes
Senior boxes are free supplemental food boxes that are provided monthly to vulnerable seniors with limited resources. CFBNJ delivers senior food boxes to community partners, like senior centers, who then distribute them to seniors in need. Each senior box includes nutritious foods and meals, such as shelf-stable milk, canned protein, as well as fresh produce, as part of our initiative to address hunger as a health issue. Last year, we provided 47,000 senior food boxes
Community Distributions
At senior housing and senior centers supply additional healthy food on a monthly basis. Last year, we distributed 1.8 million pounds of supplemental food to 300 senior sites.
“I like to get fruits and vegetables at the distributions. I eat a lot of salads. “The food from the FoodBank helps a lot.”
