With seven people in her household, including young children and several working adults, Alexandria appreciates the help that she gets at Varick Memorial Food Pantry in Hackensack.
Dressed in her uniform, she visits the pantry on her lunch break during a long day cleaning the offices of local businesses.
“Since COVID-19 hit, it’s been a very difficult situation,” she told us. “That’s why I come to the pantry to feed my family.”
Smiling, she puts the canned vegetables, soups, rice, and diapers that she receives into the trunk of her car as she heads back to work for the rest of the day.
“Everything that I get here helps,” Alexandria said when asked which foods she most enjoys receiving at the pantry. “It all makes a big difference.”
