Our food bank is a storage and distribution system, marshalling resources for over 1,000 soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, and feeding programs in New Jersey. In addition to distributing food sourced from our generous donors, we also administer supplemental food packaged and supplied by the State and Federal governments. CFBNJ is short for Community FoodBank of New Jersey.
We fight hunger and poverty in New Jersey by assisting those in need and seeking long-term solutions. We engage, educate and empower all sectors of society in the battle. Working together with volunteers, donors and our many partners, we work to fill the emptiness caused by hunger with Food, Help and Hope.
CFBNJ is more than just a food bank. We are also the largest anti-poverty organization in New Jersey, with a variety of programs addressing the various causes of hunger to augment our work to end hunger. Our Resource Access team assists our neighbors with SNAP benefits (formerly food stamps) and LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program) information, while NJ SNAP-Ed provides nutrition and physical education and well-being for our neighbors. Our Diaper Program and Period Initiative provide additional services that help our community partners assist their neighbors, and our Food Service Training Academy (FSTA) provides crucial job training in the food service industry and ServSafe® certification.

Our Food Service Training Academy (FSTA) exemplifies our commitment to addressing the root cause of hunger – poverty – by providing graduates with workforce development and job training that can lead to a living wage. The free, 14-week intensive culinary and life skills program provides students with the foundation for a better life and teaches them about communication, nutrition and healthy cooking. We started the FSTA in 2000 and have graduated more than 2,500 students with an average job-placement rate exceeding 90 percent. FSTA graduates also earn their ServSafe® Certification by participating in the program.

No application is necessary to receive this benefit.
