Maximum Grant Award: This grant cycle will distribute up to a maximum of $30,000 “Thirty Thousand Dollars”
Funding Request Overview and Guidelines
The Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ) invites organizations located in Atlantic, Bergen, Cape May, Cumberland, Essex, Hudson, Middlesex, Morris, Passaic, Somerset, and Union counties to submit proposals for capacity-building funding. The purpose of this grant opportunity is to strengthen organizational capacity so that groups can increase the amount of food distributed to individuals and families in need in their communities.
Eligible Counties:
1. Atlantic County
2. Bergen County
3. Cape May County
4. Cumberland County
5. Essex County
6. Hudson County
7. Middlesex County
8. Morris County
9. Passaic County
10.Somerset County
11.Union County
Both current partner agencies and organizations that are not currently partnered with CFBNJ are eligible to apply. Grant requests outside of these counties will not be considered.
Acceptable grant requests include but are not limited to:
Capacity Equipment
- Equipment is intended to support food storage and distribution operations.
- The organization confirms it has the capacity to house, operate, and properly use the equipment in compliance with all applicable food safety and regulatory requirements.
- The organization assumes full responsibility for all ongoing costs associated with the equipment, including utilities, routine maintenance, and repairs.
Supplemental Food Products
- Provide the number of individuals you anticipate serving with supplemental food products.
- Provide metrics that you will use to measure the impact of the supplemental products you plan to distribute.
- Products must be US-produced, if possible; but if not produced domestically, can be purchased from non-US producers and/or vendors.

Eligibility
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be a 501(c)(3) public charity, an organization wholly owned by a public charity, or a faith‑based organization that serves individuals who are ill, food insecure, or otherwise in need.
- Operate programs that are mission‑aligned with hunger relief, food access, nutrition, or basic needs support.
- Be in good standing with state and federal regulatory bodies.
- Submit a proposal relevant to CFBNJ’s 11-county service area.
