CFBNJ’S NIGHT OF 300,000 MEALS SUPPORTS SOUTH JERSEY FAMILIES
Annual event features fine food, fun spirits, and live music to raise money for the fight against hunger

Sponsored by Spencer’s & Spirit Halloween and Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, NJ—May 1, 2023

On Thursday, April 27, the Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ) held its annual Night of 300,000 Meals in its Egg Harbor Township warehouse. The state’s largest food bank sought to raise funds for 300,000 meals for South Jersey neighbors in need – about $100,000. CFBNJ is proud to announce that the fundraiser met its ambitious goal for the second year in a row since returning from a hiatus caused by the pandemic.

The evening featured signature dishes from more than 20 local chefs, specialty cocktails by Tito’s Handmade Vodka, and live music by the Eddie Morgan Duo. Nearly 200 guests also had the opportunity to learn about CFBNJ’s mission and tour the organization’s warehouse, which can hold up to 1.6 million pounds of food at a time.

Spencer’s & Spirit Halloween served as Presenting Sponsor for the event. Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City was a Co-Presenting Hunger Hero Sponsor.

In Atlantic, Cape May, and Cumberland counties, which comprise CFBNJ’s South Jersey service area, nearly 70,000 people struggle with hunger, including more than 20,000 children. The effects of inflation and the end of pandemic- related federal safety nets have made it even more difficult for families to put food on the table. CFBNJ’s South Jersey Community Assistance Pantry has gone from serving about 350 families per month in the summer of 2021 to assisting more than 2,000 families per month, currently – a nearly 500% increase in two years.

“This is CFBNJ’s fourth time hosting this event. Every year, we look forward to seeing members of the community come together in support of struggling South Jersey families,” said Torrina Bennett-Michael, Director of External Affairs at the Community FoodBank of New Jersey. “We’re grateful to the attendees, corporate sponsors, and local businesses that made Night of 300,000 Meals a success again this year.”

##
The Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ), a member of Feeding America®, has been delivering food, help and hope across the state for more than 45 years. Last year, CFBNJ provided nutritious food for over 85 million meals through its network of more than 800 community partners including pantries, soup kitchens, emergency shelters, mobile pantries, and child and senior feeding programs throughout the 15 New Jersey counties it serves. For our hungry neighbors, the Community FoodBank of New Jersey is the powerful agent of change that fills the emptiness caused by hunger and provides resources that are essential to earning a sustainable living.
