Corporate Partner Spotlight: ACME Markets

With close to 900,000 neighbors in need in New Jersey, including more than 260,000 children, the FoodBank relies on the devotion of its corporate partners to make an impact on hunger. ACME Markets, one of our Visionary Impact Partners, is one such company that fights hunger alongside us year-round, donating food and providing funds through the ACME Foundation.

ACME Markets is one of our top food donors, having provided close to 1.2 million pounds of nutritious food in 2019 alone. They also support the FoodBank financially with an emphasis on addressing childhood hunger. Last year, during Albertsons’ (the parent company of ACME Markets) annual Hunger Is campaign, ACME Markets stores raised enough money to provide 100 million meals nationwide–about 120,000 right here in New Jersey–to connect kids with healthy food in their communities. The Community FoodBank of New Jersey used this support to fund our Family Pack Program, which provides nearly 1,500 households with bags of supplemental food for the weekend, when kids miss school meals.

“True to the ACME Foundation’s mission of bettering the lives of people in our communities, ACME Markets is one of the FoodBank’s top contributors of funds and nutritious food,” said Carlos Rodriguez, President & CEO of the Community FoodBank of New Jersey.  “We couldn’t do what we do to fight hunger in New Jersey without dedicated partners like them.”

ACME Markets also supports the FoodBank through various in-store campaigns during the holiday season. Each year, their Give Thanks-Give Food Thanksgiving food drive, in partnership with 106.7 Lite FM, is an opportunity for shoppers to purchase “Gobble Bucks,” which help the FoodBank to provide holiday meals for our neighbors in need.

Last year alone, the funds donated by ACME Markets and its customers helped provide nearly 800,000 meals.

“Nearly 800,000 nutritious meals may have gone unserved in New Jersey last year without the support of ACME Markets,” Carlos added. “From providing nutritious food and financial support to raising awareness in stores and through radio station partnerships, ACME Markets does its part year-round to fight hunger in our state.”
