CFBNJ’S 21ST ANNUAL TURKEY DRIVE TO PROVIDE FOR NEW JERSEY NEIGHBORS IN NEED
Holiday food items will be collected at nearly 60 sites across the state
HILLSIDE, NJ—November 16, 2021
Though food insecurity has declined from where it was at the height of the pandemic, participation in charitable food assistance remains elevated, with many turning to food banks and pantries for help getting holiday meals. To ensure that every family has what they need for a happy Thanksgiving, the Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ) expects to distribute 70,000 turkeys and roasters – double what it provided last year – and will receive even more at its 21st Annual Turkey Drive.
The Turkey Drive will be held at nearly 60 sites statewide, including churches, supermarkets, and other community hubs, on Saturday, November 20 and Sunday, November 21. Visit cfbnj.org/turkey for an interactive map of locations.
CFBNJ staff, volunteers, and local community partners will be at each location collecting holiday food. Most needed items include frozen turkeys and hams, roasters, canned vegetables, gravy, cranberry sauce, and stuffing. We will also accept other nonperishables, as well as monetary donations.
Last year, the drive collected about 2,500 turkeys and more than 25,000 pounds of food thanks to the generosity of those who donated. CFBNJ hopes to make this year’s event even bigger!
“Hunger hurts even more during the holidays,” said Carlos Rodriguez, President & CEO of the Community FoodBank of New Jersey. “That’s why it’s so important to support our Turkey Drive. Together, we can ensure a happy Thanksgiving for all of our neighbors.”
Those who can’t make it out to support the Turkey Drive in person can still help by visiting cfbnj.org/turkey and contributing to CFBNJ’s Virtual Turkey Drive.
