Donation to support healthy food access for children in need across New Jersey
HILLSIDE, NJ – September 15, 2026
The Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ) announced today that it has received a $100,000 grant from Bayer Fund, a philanthropic arm of Bayer in the U.S., which will be used to support the organization’s efforts to nourish food insecure children.
“In New Jersey, a staggering one in six children faces food insecurity, meaning too many children are going without the nutritious food they need to learn, grow and thrive,” said Elizabeth McCarthy, President & CEO of the Community FoodBank of New Jersey. “At a time when the need is greater than ever, support like this generous grant from Bayer Fund is crucial. We are deeply grateful for this partnership and for the meaningful difference it will make for children and families across our state.”
CFBNJ feeds kids in need year-round, helping to fill meal gaps over the weekend, during the summer, and after school, when children lose access to free school meals. Last year alone, the organization provided more than 2.1 million meals through its Child Nutrition programs – including its Family Pack, Kids Cafe, and Summer Food Service programs.
“This grant is part of Bayer Fund’s continued support for food and nutrition programs in communities across the United States,” said Amy Simpson, Director of Philanthropy and Community Impact at Bayer Fund. “We are proud to support the Community FoodBank of New Jersey and its work to provide nutritious food to children and families across the state.”
In 2025, Bayer Fund awarded more than $3.4 million in grants to 100 organizations, including $2.6 million in support for impactful Food & Nutrition and Health & Wellness programs in communities where our employees live and work. Through these efforts, Bayer Fund supports local programs that address major national challenges aligning with Bayer’s mission Health for all, hunger for none.
