My Team is Working Around the Clock: David’s Story

Dear Friend,

During my tenure as the head of operations at Food Bank for New York City, Superstorm Sandy struck, so I’ve experienced firsthand the need for food banks to spring into action during a large-scale emergency.

Now, as the VP of Operations at CFBNJ, my job is to ensure help for neighbors in need who are suffering from the economic impact of COVID-19. The small business owner facing the pain of uncertainty, wondering when, or even if, she’ll be able to reopen. The desperate single father missing a paycheck from his hourly wage job. The vulnerable child whose stomach groans without a warm school lunch, lacking access to his only reliable source of food.

As the situation around COVID-19 increases in severity, we must work harder and respond faster than ever before. That’s why my team is now on the job around the clock, in three, eight-hour shifts, to provide as much nutritious food as possible to those who need it most.

Every morning, our agency partners line up down the block in front of our Hillside warehouse, ready to load trucks and vans with food to bring back to their communities. With so much nutritious food going out each day, we need your support more now than ever before. A gift of any amount helps us to continue this critical work and to effectively and efficiently adapt our operations to changing needs throughout New Jersey.

Thank you for making our emergency-relief efforts possible and for believing that no one in our state should go hungry.

David Goldstein
Vice President of Operations
