When people come together, it can create a powerful impact. That’s why The Community FoodBank of New Jersey created Neighbors Helping Neighbors , the community-based joint effort to help spread awareness about food insecurity and raise funds to provide food, help, and hope for our neighbors in need.

About Neighbors Helping Neighbors

Neighbors Helping Neighbors is a way for you to bring your family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers together for a good cause by hosting an event to benefit CFBNJ. For different occasions, host different events: in-person and virtual food drives, fundraisers, or special kit packing parties.

Food Drives

A food drive for CFBNJ is a powerful way to make a direct impact on the fight against hunger. Join with your community to collect food and necessities such as diapers and period products to donate to the FoodBank to help families in need. Simply add a donation box at a location such as the entrance of an office party or a communal sporting event. If it’s more convenient, you can hold a virtual drive instead. To get started today, check out our Food Drive Toolkit with our Most-Wanted Food Items list!

Organizing a CFBNJ fundraiser is another great way to get the community involved in supporting our hungry neighbors! You can ask friends to donate to CFBNJ for your birthday or hold a lemonade stand for period poverty awareness and donate proceeds to CFBNJ. For more ideas on hosting an online fundraiser for our food bank serving New Jersey, check out our 10 Fundraising Event Ideas! Additionally, we have a Fundraising Event Toolkit available to help you cover all bases and walk you through each step of hosting a successful fundraising event.

Packing Parties

Collect or purchase products needed for one of the CFBNJ Special Kits and host a packing party at your location to assemble the kits with peers, family, and friends. With college students particularly vulnerable to hunger and 1 in 3 families in the United States being unable to afford diapers for their children, our most needed kits include the College Meal Food Box and Diaper Drive Donation Box. However, choose and assemble any of the kits that are important to you or according to the theme of your packing party! Other needed kits include the Holiday Season Food Drive Kit, Period Equity Drive Kit, Birthday Celebration Kit, Snow Day Meal Bag, and the Healthy Lifestyle Meal Kit. Please view our toolkits and instructional videos to help you with your Special Kit Packing Party!
