NIGHT OF 300,000 MEALS RAISES FUNDS FOR SOUTH JERSEY NEIGHBORS IN NEED
Community FoodBank of New Jersey’s annual South Jersey fundraiser returns with fine food, fun spirits, and live music
EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, NJ—May 2, 2022
On Thursday, April 28, the Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ) held its annual Night of 300,000 Meals fundraiser at its Egg Harbor Township location. The event returned after two years of hiatus as the organization responded to the economic effects of the pandemic. The evening featured fine food from local restaurants, specialty cocktails, and live music by the Eddie Morgan Duo. About 225 guests also had the opportunity to tour CFBNJ’s Egg Harbor Township warehouse, capable of holding up to 1.6 million pounds of food, and its Community Assistance Pantry, which serves about 700 local families each month.
The goal of the event was to raise funds to support 300,000 meals for South Jersey neighbors in need – about $100,000. CFBNJ is proud to announce that the fundraiser met its ambitious goal this year.
In Atlantic, Cape May, and Cumberland counties – CFBNJ’s South Jersey service area – about 60,000 residents struggle with hunger. 1 in 6 children is food insecure in this area, compared to 1 in 10 statewide. CFBNJ’s Egg Harbor Township location provides healthy food, nutrition education, hygiene supplies, and access to critical financial resources to South Jersey neighbors in need.
“This is our third time hosting this event, and we were excited to be able to bring it back this year,” said Denise Hladun, CFBNJ’s Director of External Affairs. “It’s been a difficult two years, particularly here in South Jersey, and it’s so meaningful to see members of the community come together in support of our struggling neighbors.”
CFBNJ is grateful to the attendees, sponsors, restaurants, volunteers, and local businesses that made the event a success.
