Free events mark inaugural visit of Walmart’s Mobile Wellness trailer

    HILLSIDE, NJ—April 28, 2022

As part of its nearly 20-year relationship with the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, Walmart will bolster its recent $100,000 donation to the FoodBank with a trio of free health-and-wellness events. These will feature the inaugural visit by one of Walmart’s Mobile Wellness trailers. Eighteen feet in length, and featuring four clinical exam rooms, the trailer will make available complimentary health services and screenings.

The free events will include all CDC-approved COVID-19 vaccines and boosters, both for adults and children. In addition, they will feature specific health screenings, pharmacist consultations, and eyeglass adjustments and cleanings. The events will be held on Thursday, May 5 in Hillside, NJ; Friday, May 6 in Bridgeton NJ; and Saturday, May 7 in Egg Harbor Township, NJ.

During the events, the food pantries will provide food assistance, as well – distributing fresh and nonperishable items.

“Hunger and the demand for healthcare knows no boundaries and affects all of our communities,” said Jennifer Hoehn, Walmart’s Sr. Manager of Public Affairs. “Walmart is proud to join with our long-term partners at the Community FoodBank of New Jersey to help our neighbors in need. This event, along with our Fight Hunger, Spark Change campaign will go a long way in helping communities live better by expanding access to healthcare and nutritious food.”

“Through multiple natural disasters, during COVID-19, and all the time, Walmart has been with us as a steadfast partner,” said Carlos Rodriguez, President & CEO of the Community FoodBank of New Jersey. “We’re grateful to have them as one of our Visionary Partners – the highest level of Corporate Impact Partner. For more than twenty years, they’ve provided critical food, funds, volunteer time, and healthcare to our neighbors in need.”

All in attendance will also receive a Walmart reusable bag, a much-needed item as the state’s new plastic bag ban takes effect on May 4.

The May events also align with Walmart’s annual Fight Hunger. Spark Change. campaign which runs in stores and online through May 15, 2022. The campaign provides Walmart shoppers the opportunity to support their local Feeding America® member food banks, like the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, by purchasing items from participating suppliers.

Since 2006, Walmart and Sam’s Club have donated more than 7 billion pounds of food to Feeding America food banks, including the Community FoodBank of New Jersey.

Since their launch, Walmart’s seven Mobile Wellness trailers have provided health and wellness access to more than 100,000 patients and customers nationwide.
