For more than twenty years, JPMorgan Chase has been one of CFBNJ’s most devoted corporate partners, giving funds and time that are essential to our operations. Recently, their support has been especially meaningful, as they’ve helped us to sustain elevated service levels throughout the pandemic.
JPMorgan Chase is a Leadership Impact Partner, and their two most recent grants to the FoodBank were directed towards general emergency-relief efforts and child nutrition. As hunger among kids in New Jersey has increased by a shocking 75% over the past year, their support of Family Packs, grab-and-go meals, and summer food has helped us to provide about 150,000 meals to children and their families.
The company’s employees have also provided a critical resource that the FoodBank has been short on recently – their time. They and their families volunteer regularly at our Hillside warehouse, building emergency meal kits, packing senior boxes, creating Family Packs, sorting food, and more. In the past two years alone, nearly 300 JPMorgan Chase volunteers gave almost 700 hours towards our mission.
“Throughout the COVID pandemic, I saw firsthand how critical it was for the Community Food Bank of New Jersey to meet the needs of the community, which increased dramatically, and continue providing fresh nutritious food around the state,” said Ken Freelund, Executive Director, Banker, J.P. Morgan Private Bank. “The Food Bank put out a call for volunteers and we were honored to help sort food, prepare it for distribution and get as many of our employees engaged as possible to support this work.”
Over the years, JPMorgan Chase has provided further financial support through our signature events, serving as a Denim Diamond sponsor for this year’s virtual Blue Jean Ball. CFBNJ is also fortunate to have Alma DeMetropolis, Managing Director at JPMorgan Private Bank, as a long-time member of our Board of Directors.
“The Community Food Bank of New Jersey is an incredibly valuable resource, leading the way on addressing food insecurity and poverty throughout the state,” said Alma DeMetropolis, CFBNJ Board Member and Managing Director, Market Manager, J.P. Morgan Private Bank. “Through a variety of thoughtful and innovative programs, the organization ensures as many of our neighbors as possible have equitable access to food and nutrition education and I’m proud to be part of this work as a board member, volunteer and corporate supporter.”
We couldn’t provide for the nearly 1.2 million neighbors in need in our state without the help of caring corporate partners like JPMorgan Chase!
“CFBNJ’s partnership with JPMorgan Chase is truly invaluable and touches every part of the organization,” said Carlos Rodriguez, President & CEO of the Community FoodBank of New Jersey. “We’re grateful for the funds and time that they give, and of course, for the management expertise that Alma DeMetropolis lends as a member of our Board of Directors.”
