As the holidays grow closer, hunger hurts even more for the nearly 900,000 New Jersey neighbors who may not be able to provide holiday meals for their families. The FoodBank and its network of partner agencies, donors, and volunteers work together this time of year to provide nutritious Thanksgiving meals to those who need them most. Peerless Beverage is one such dedicated partner that provides essential support during the holidays and year-round.
On the Saturday before Thanksgiving each year, Peerless Beverage donates their trucks and their drivers’ time to help pick up and deliver items collected at our Turkey Drive. This year, the FoodBank’s 19th Annual Turkey Drive will be held on November 23 and 24, when FoodBank staff, volunteers, and agency partners will collect frozen turkeys and all the fixings to help provide holiday meals for neighbors in need. Peerless Beverage and their volunteer drivers help to ensure efficiency as tens of thousands of pounds of donated food makes its way from nearly 50 Turkey Drive sites statewide back to our warehouse at the end of the drive.
“We’re happy to support the FoodBank’s operation as they work to ensure that families in need can share Thanksgiving meals together,” said Chuck Salzman, President of Peerless Beverage and member of the FoodBank’s Board of Directors. “Peerless is a family company. We’re committed to supporting the foundation of our neighborhoods by giving back to organizations like the Community FoodBank of New Jersey.”
Peerless Beverage also provides monetary support for our Kids Cafe after-school meals program and the FoodBank’s signature gala events. Members of the Peerless Beverage team donate their time, visiting our warehouse to help sort food for our neighbors in need throughout the year.
Further donations are also provided by Hops for Hunger, an annual campaign that Peerless Beverage conducts with Brooklyn Brewery and a host of participating restaurants.
“From supporting our child feeding programs and events, to ensuring that our Turkey Drive runs smoothly, our friends at Peerless Beverage go the extra mile to help move the FoodBank towards its goal of eradicating hunger in our state,” said Carlos Rodriguez, President & CEO of the Community FoodBank of New Jersey. “We are incredibly grateful to have members of their team lend their leadership abilities to our Board of Directors and our new Emerging Leaders Board.”
