Corporate Partner Spotlight: Walmart

The Community FoodBank of New Jersey thanks Walmart for its generous support to help us fight hunger in New Jersey.Walmart grants have helped the FoodBank provide cold storage equipment to 28 of its member agencies, and have supported our SNAP Outreach Program and the Food Services Training Academy.

The FoodBank has been stepping up to provide more nutritious foods, including fresh produce, dairy and protein, through its member agencies and its programs. A big challenge is the lack of adequate cold storage facilities at our agencies due to which they are unable to accept perishable donations. By providing 28 such agencies with refrigerators and freezers, we are ensuring that they can distribute greater amounts of fresh and nutritious foods. The FoodBank’s Food Service Training Academy helps provide skills and credentials for the unemployed and our SNAP (formerly food stamps) outreach assists food-insecure households apply for SNAP. The FoodBank is grateful to Walmart for supporting all of these vital programs to fight hunger and poverty in our communities.

Walmart is a generous partner of our Retail Gleaning Program and donated 965,574 lbs. of food to the FoodBank in FY15.

Thank you, Walmart, for your commitment to our local communities and for being a valuable partner in the fight against hunger and poverty.
