Feeding thousands of struggling families in just hours

Dear Friend,

April was a record-breaking month for CFBNJ and our network of community partners – together we distributed more food than ever before, supporting nearly 7 million meals. Sadly, we expect this heightened need to grow beyond anything we’ve seen in our 45-year history.

To meet the extraordinary demand, we are there for the families that need us now more than ever. We’ve expanded our capacity and added drive-through distributions in high-need areas with community partners so that nutritious food is accessible to thousands of struggling families – efficiently and effectively – in mere hours.

Last Wednesday, 1,300 casino workers and their families waited patiently inside their cars wrapped around Harbor Square Mall while emergency meal kits and fresh produce were loaded into their trunks by our army of staff and volunteers. This Tuesday’s drive-through distribution at Newark’s Branch Brook Park helped an additional 2,065 families. We accomplished each distribution in about 6 hours.

3,365 families served during drive through distributions in Newark and Egg Harbor Township.

With your help, CFBNJ can continue to reach a record number of our struggling neighbors  many of whom are seeking help for the very first time. Together, we are there ensuring no one in our state goes hungry during this crisis.

Best,
Carlos M. Rodriguez
President and CEO
