Dear Friend,
As a member of CFBNJ’s Agency Relations team at Egg Harbor Township for more than eight years, I’ve witnessed firsthand pantry lines snaking around entire city blocks, the hopelessness in the eyes of single mothers whose recent separation left them unable to make ends meet, and seniors who’ve worked hard their whole life but struggle to get by now that they’re retired.
But I’ve never seen vulnerability like this before. These are unprecedented times as the COVID-19 pandemic wreaks havoc across the state. South Jersey will be especially hard-hit as countless casinos, restaurants and hourly workers face the reality of layoffs, furloughs and missed paychecks.
While there is uncertainty, there is also hope. We’ve received several tractor-trailer loads of donated food from our casino and corporate partners to help us feed individuals, families, and communities impacted by this crisis.
Since Sunday, our staff has packed thousands of Emergency Meal Kits with nonperishable food items that can sustain a family for several days. We began delivering these meal kits to our partner agencies so they can start to reach vulnerable households in our communities.
We can’t do it alone. With your help, we can reach more families during this uncertain time. Your gift makes a difference – just $1 supplies 3 nutritious meals.
Thank you for being a lifeline to our neighbors in need during this crisis.
Kim Arroyo
Director of Agency Relations
