    Food & Diaper Drive Ideas

Organizing a food drive is a great way to get your community involved in the work to end poverty in the Garden State. Below, we’ve supplied downloadable PDF toolkits for different kinds of drives and boxes to help those who need it most. They include helpful tips, checklists, printable signs, and more.

We thank you for supporting the Community FoodBank of New Jersey. We appreciate your dedication to helping our neighbors in need!

Food Drive & Period Product Drive Toolkits

    Period Equity Kit Box

Period poverty is the lack of access to sanitary products, toilets, menstrual hygiene education, hand washing facilities, and/or waste management (American Medical Women’s Association, October 2019). Lack of access to these period supplies is closely tied to poverty and under-resourced communities. It often results in stress and shame, as well as time lost from school and work. In fact, it is estimated that 1 in 4 teens has missed class for lack of a maxi-pad or tampon.

    College Meal Food Box

With tight budgets and busy schedules, college students are particularly vulnerable to hunger, which can hinder their abilities to excel in the classroom and put them at greater risk of dropping out. CFBNJ distributes food to a dozen college campus pantries throughout the state and works with government to help enact long-term solutions to end college hunger in New Jersey.

    Period Product Drives

Much like diapers, period supplies are not covered by most federally funded public assistance programs because they are not food items. Period poverty is a public health issue, resulting in mental health issues including feelings of shame, hopelessness, and isolation, as well as poor bodily hygiene and significant risks to physical well-being.

    Diaper Drives

Since 2021, CFBNJ’s Women Fighting Hunger has hosted the #GreatBigDiaperDrive to address diaper need. The 2022 #GreatBigDiaperDrive was a huge success raising over $19,000 and collecting over 250,000 diapers, tens of thousands of wipes and other necessities for our neighbors in need.
